Formulation Researcher

In this position, you will join our Chemistry R&D group and the formulation team. You will be responsible of formulating novel materials for extreme fast charge and high energy density batteries. As an experienced, skilled and creative formulation researcher, you will design, develop, optimize and analyze electrode formulations and evaluate their performance in battery cells.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Formulate raw materials, including powders, particles and nano-particles, liquids, gels, additives and polymers to meet desired specifications.
  • Optimize formulated materials to improve specifications, stability and shelf life.
  • Conduct stability tests.
  • Establish guidelines and criteria for acceptance and testing of final formulation.
  • Develop specifications for formulations.
  • Understanding of formulations physical properties: homogeneity, dispersion, viscosity, rheology) and provide solutions for improving these properties.
  • Experience with methods and tools to develop and improve formulation robustness
  • Hands-on experience with design and preparation of formulations
  • Initiate innovative and creative projects
  • Ability to translate ideas into practical experiments and solutions
  • Experience with working in glove-box
  • Characterization techniques
  • Documentation of experiments and analysis of the results
  • Literature search
  • Work in cross-functional, self-organized multidisciplinary teams
  • Contribute, present and implement new ideas

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, or relevant field, or M.Sc with at least 3 years of prior experience in relevant industries.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with particles dispersions: Choice of materials, preparation, and testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge in dispersants, surfactants, thickeners, additives: Choice of materials, preparation and testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of formulation properties – a must
  • Knowledge of Li-ion battery manufacturing - Advantage
  • Knowledge in electrochemistry and energy-storage devices – Advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team
  • Ability to organize & communicate results in a precise manner
  • Self-taught, self-motivated and collaborative with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to advance multiple projects in a fast paced multidisciplinary environment
  • Out of the box, innovative and creative thinking, with positive attitude
