After unveiling the first 55 inch display that was a breakthrough in display technology last year, this year StoreDot is demonstrating white backlight, consumer facing MolecuLED™TVs
Los Angeles, May 23, 2017 - StoreDot, the nanotechnology materials pioneer known for its super-fast battery charging technology, will showcase its new generation of display technology - a display powered by StoreDot’s MolecuLED™ technology that is suitable to all LCD displays with a white backlight unit. This novel metal-free approach to color conversion, shifts lost photons coming from the backlight in order to enhance the red and green colors. This groundbreaking technology is the only fully organic solution for all LCD TVs and has the potential to improve the color gamut by about 15%.
StoreDot’s SC2 - Single Color Conversion MolecuLED™ display technology allows white backlight unit displays to produce vivid colors, be more cost effective, and is environmentally friendly. The MolecuLED™ is an organic color conversion film that delivers highly competitive wide color gamut at a fraction of the cost when compared to Quantum Dot solutions. It is completely heavy metals free - with no use of Cadmium, Indium, or any type of metal.
“This is yet another exciting step for StoreDot as we seek to introduce new avenues of technological breakthroughs and new product categories in the world of LCD displays,” said, Dr. Doron Myersdorf, Co-Founder and CEO. “We are proud to be able to demo yet another generation of our cutting edge technology for the second year in a row at Display Week while exhibiting a unique solution for color gamut enhancement with minimal cost adder. We’re currently working on partnering with leading TV manufacturers to bring this technology to the masses.”
StoreDot has developed the technology and manufacturing processes that allow to create organic molecules and materials inspired by nature. The SC2 MolecuLED™ is a new generation of the multi-color conversion film for blue backlight TVs. It’s a combination of novel organic compounds and synthesis processes that enhance any LCD in addition to providing an alternative to toxic QD films. The MolecuLED™ film has much lower cost compared to QD, and is fully recyclable. The SC2 MolecuLED™ is the latest application of the company's technology following its achievements in fast-charging batteries for mobile phones as well as for electric vehicles.
