Toby Shapshak, a journalist from South Africa, wrote about the shocking state of child laborers mining for cobalt in Africa, and issue that's been thrust into the global spotlight after tech giants Apple, Google, Microsoft, Tesla and Dell were sued for their role in how this essential element ended up in their products.


An obvious alternative is to invest in research and development to come up with new formulae, processes or technologies for battery production.
